Dialogue:
Kinetic sculptures, groups of toys punctured by steel wires are clustered together as if in conversation. The whirr of the small motors and the vibration they cause suggest the activity of a cocktail party or gallery opening. This quirky representation of a dialogue is typical of my intent on distorting reality in favor of the humorous and strange. Although Dialogue advocates diversity through its multicultural toys, it is also unsettling because the toys have been impaled and seem caught in their own private worlds. An ambiguity asserts itself within the multiple readings of my work, which teeters between the politically collect and the personally political.
Vibration is a vital sign of life in this installation. Without vibration there will be no dialogue.
Love, Desire, Necessity, Greed or simply Joy whatever the Motivations are that keep dialogue continue.
I use found objects to depict the physical and emotional connection to the characters.
