MAP:
Before I left Japan, one of my parent's friend ask me to send a world map from US. He is a world War?veteran and he wants to see a different Map from Japanese one. He said all maps he knew is the one that Japan is always located in the center of the world. He was curious to see other point of view that are his dedicated country located on the corner of the world map.
I went to strand bookstore in Manhattan and bought 3 maps. One was a school supply map from American Map Corporation undated. Second one was made in New Jersey in 1985. Last one was made in Germany 1946. I send a school supply map to him that shows Japan in far left, Russia and china are divided in half and located on left and right corner. I kept other two for myself.
I make drawing look like world map with the colorful borderlines and imaginary countries. This is a map to celebrate aesthetic boundary and show a different aspect of world separate from political one.
